23A/Mountain Road to Open Tomorrow!

Some more excellent news! The Rt. 23A mountain road is going to open tomorrow (Wednesday, November 22) between 3 and 4pm, right in time for Thanksgiving!

The road has been closed since a major washout in June and has undergone months of intense repairs. As promised, the road will be open in time for the ski season and for Thanksgiving...so enjoy!

Not that it really matters, but where there any cars involved with the landslide on the road? That kind of sucks if so, hope everyone was okay.

Nope, no one was hurt, thankfully.

is there a tentative opening day set, assuming the weather cooperates. and how many trails does the mountain usually open with?

It always depends on the weather. If we open this week we will probably open initially with Hellgate and Broadway.

We can't take it anymore!!!! You have to open Thanksgiving day and beat Belleayre's opening day by one day. You can't let that small government run hill beat the Snowmaking Capital of the World!!

Now, now, guys...you know I can't let you say something mean about our neighbor...only pleasant things!

Thanks to OS and other mountaintop business leaders for keeping the pressure on NYS to get this done by ski season!

I'm still not going to believe it until I actually drive on it. Detours for all of these months has been mind bogeling, and I am only up on weekends!

I totally understand...this came right from "upstairs," though, so I'm thinking it's actually going to happen.

Hello - I am spending Thanksgiving at Hunter Mountain Rentals at Hunter Highlands in anticipation of my first day of skiing. I can't wait to ski on the mountain. And, we're having fun at the condo. You can check them out at http://home.comcast.net/~hunter.mountain.rentals/NY.htm

I wouldn't miss opening day for anything. As usual, Hunter Mountain is always prepared for skiing.
