Snowmaking Update!

As promised...

Mother nature kept us honest and threw a little bad weather are way... no problem: we will come back and rally to get the mountain into great shape in no time. It's Tuesday morning, and the temps are predicted to start falling today... the snowmakers are standing by, waiting for that to happen.

Once the temps start to drop, we will start up the compressors and guns to once again blanket the mountain with that manmade powder starting on upper Belt, HBK, Minya Ike, Madison, Lower Crossover, Hunter One, Mossy and a few more out there.

The good news is that it looks like the weather is moving in with some cold that will stay around awhile with a Christmas present around the holidays of natural snow that will only add to the great skiing at Hunter over the holiday period!

The plan for the weekend is that we will have more terrain opened along with Clair's on the West Side, so get ready for some great conditions and give yourself and friends a ski and ride day or days at Hunter! -Bruce

What about the Terrain Park... That should be a serious priority!!!

My wife & I want to come up this weekend but because your park isnt open (and is usually somewhere between terrible - Limited - or OK at best) my teenage boys refuse... They'd rather stay home than ride Hellgate, Cliff & Way Out for 2 days... To quote: "BORING"!

When will you guys realize that being cheap on your park (ie: blowing enough snow to set up a quality park) loses you the teen & young adult market + their parents!! Tickets, food, drinks, accomodations, etc, etc...

Please wake up and smell the Park!

I am honestly not sure what you are even talking about. Hunter had an amazing park last year, and we are working on it this year. We can't open everything at the same time, in the first few days, so give us a chance. Maybe you didn't make it here last year... but our park has come a LONG way and we heard nothing but good feedback all last year. Give us a chance to get it going... we've only been open for 5 days and we're more than 65% open. I think that is a pretty incredible feat.

There were some features setup this
past weekend. I fully understand the
park takes some time to setup after opening day. It was good last year but my issues as usual is lift operations and the Quad breaking down. I can't understand why D and F
chairs are not ALWAYS running for back-up not IF but WHEN the quad goes down. A large percentage of the front trails were open so keep the lifts going

Listen, ok, we took responsibility for the problems with the quad by giving vouchers and bounce-back coupons this weekend. We said we're sorry. We're working to address these problems... and are addressing getting the park up and running ASAP. Have patience, we are working on everything, ppl!

I understand why no terrain park--you had a limited amount of time/weather and think you did a respectable job. That said, I'm with eric. You really need to have the D lift open on a regular basis. When the quad or top of the mountain get too congested, doing some mid-station runs (Eisenhower, etc.) keep us moving. Also, at the end of the day when the legs are getting tired, it's nice to do a few more runs off of the D lift. We got really upset last year when you were closing this lift down, and when we saw it wasn't going to be open last weekend, we stayed home. Our family can get to Camelback/Elk in less time.

You guys have done a great job getting the mountain in shape so quickly. Unfortunately, you can't take advantage of that when the lifts aren't working. There really does need to be a contingency plan for the quad. For example, re-allocate marketing $ for maintenance because marketing will not make up for long lines. And vouchers do nothing for season pass holders...

Hi there,

We were told yesterday that from now on, D and F will be on standby in case there are issues w/ the quad. So, as far as a backup plan, we've got one and are committed to it.

Hi Jessica,
Just wondering--does this mean that the D lift will not be open on a regular basis, and will only be used as a 'standby' in case the quad goes down? Please clarify.
Thanks,
Jim

No -- D Lift will be open on a regular basis.
