The Weather Ahead: This Week

Hello and happy Sunday everyone!

We have some pretty good conditions today, with some trails closed because the snow was too slippery after all the rain. Contrary to what many of you think, while we've lost much of our ground snow, we lost negligible amounts of trail snow, and previously open trails are still ski/ride-able.

This week's forecast looks great through the end of the week -- sun and cold temperatures will prevail, with temps warming up to the high 30's after Monday and Tuesday. Stay tuned with the forecast!

This week on the agenda we've got the last LocalMotion tomorrow, and a busy weekend with the Burton Women's Camp, Moguls & More workshop and a Mini World Cup competition.

Keep checking back!

As Promised...Snowmaking Update 2/19

Once again, us against Mother Nature and she is kicking our butt. Seems like every time we make snow and get the mountain in great shape she throws us some weather that brings ice, sleet and freezing rain. We the snowmakers have to say we are tired of this, so let's hope that this time we get the mountain back in shape, and maybe, just maybe, it will stay that way.

So here is the plan for the upcoming week...everybody should know it by now anyway! Tonight: Hellgate, Minya, Belt, Wayout, Mid-station, Kennedy, Mossy, Lower Crossover. Tomorrow we will hit upper K27, Eastside, Colonel's Alternate, Heuga Express and others. Thursday we will hit Claire's and other stuff in the mix. Racer's Edge will be running most of the next 3 or 4 days.

Don't worry about us...let's see what the weatherman will forecast down the road for the weekend...all we can do is hope for the best from the weather, and we will give you the best that we can. I'll let you know how it is going and how the snow is for the upcoming days and weekend.

- Bruce

SNOWMAKING tonight & Jim Gallagher tomorrow!

Our snowmakers have informed me that we're starting up our guns tonight! So far I've heard that we're making snow on the mainline and on Way Out, but hoping for a snowmaking update from Bruce...stay tuned!

WEDNESDAY -- Jim Gallagher, the one-man band, will be here from 2-6pm, in the Main Bar area, on Wednesday 2/20! We hope to see you here!

Snowmaking Update: Monday 2/11

Yes, it's COLD...almost too cold to make snow but yes we are making snow around the mountain. The plan for the upcoming week will be to do a lot of hit and run try to get as much covered up before the weekend. The forecast finally looks pretty good for the future after a burp in the weather tomorrow into Wednesday...it looks like 4+ inches of snow with maybe a little of that 4 letter r word...let's hope not!

But for the weekend, most of the trails will have a fresh coat of man made and hopefully some fluff from up above. We will have 2 new trails opened up for this weekend West Side Glide & Grand Concourse on Hunter 1. The weekend's weather looks good with maybe sunshine and fresh snow so let's celebrate Presidents Weekend by making some turns.

Snow has been Made...and more to come!

Last night, we made snow on Hellgate, Belt, Minya Konka, Lower Crossover, Kennedy, Mossy, Racer's and 5th Ave. All in all, despite the warm weather and rain, we didn't lose much snow and as many of the locals know, the slopes still look great. We'll have between 39 and 42 trails open for the weekend!

As of this morning, we'll be shutting down for the rest of the weekend (due to less-than-optimal snowmaking weather coming in) and will be starting up again on Sunday...so stay tuned and keep checking back for info! There are plenty of events taking up this weekend, so we hope to see you here!
