Good morning skiers & riders! We've got some quick math for you today, because Monday is a great day to save a few bucks... and I'm going to tell you how.
First, Monday, January
2, is a day you may have off work or school... and you might be
thinking of coming to ski or ride (or you might not... it'd be good to
start now!) Although this is a holiday, Hunter's sticking with midweek
pricing... which means $58 lift tickets at the window, but $29 lift tickets for Big Lift Card holders!
So, here comes the math. Ready?
ON MONDAY...
Buy a $49 Big Lift Card at the ticket window.
Buy a $29 lift ticket (50% off, with your Big Lift Card discount)
Spend a total of $78, get a half price lift ticket for Monday AND (yes, there's an AND) save 50% off midweek and 25% off weekend & holiday tickets ALL SEASON LONG.
You heard it right. You can spend $58 on a full price lift ticket on Monday, or you can spend $20 extra and save every other time you come to Hunter, plus get a ton of additional benefits (read about them here!)

A few words on winter.
Today, Thursday, December 29, we probably have the best surface conditions of the season thus far. There are a ton of people here totally stoked to ski and ride, our snowguns are blasting, Consumer Demo Days are in progress and we're prepping for our New Years celebration.
Meanwhile, back here in the marketing office, I see another handful of news articles and television clips regarding the lack of snow and the suffering of ski resorts.
Admittedly, Hunter is included in a select few of said stories. Though, to the surprise of many writers and anchors, we are quick to admit we're suffering from a distinctly different problem: we don't have such terrible news at all. And here's why, for those of you who are wondering what we all think about the weather-driven doom and gloom we're all hearing about:
As I type this, Hunter has 29 trails open. Hunter One, the main mountain and the West Side are open, plus park features (and a progression park, too!). 9 lifts have been operating for the Christmas/New Years holiday week. Snowtubing is open. All of our learning programs are operating. We've got NASTAR, events, live entertainment and most importantly people are here, and they are psyched to be skiing and riding.
As of today, Hunter has more trails open than Whiteface, Sugarloaf and Mount Snow, plus all of our immediate neighbors. Our snowmakers worked through the coldest night we've had yet (last night), and we have every intention of continuing to crank our compressors and snowguns whenever temperatures permit. For those of you who are not aware, we don't need snow. We just need cold. Hunter's snowmaking power allows for such recovery that the lack of snow is completely irrelevant to our operation.
What is most important is that our customers -- the thousands of people who have come to ski and ride so far this season -- are excited. We all want to enjoy the winter conditions, and Hunter has some of the best anywhere. We're aiming to please, and we can assure you that we will continue to open more terrain, and serve up the most awesome snow conditions anywhere around... we hope you can keep some of our positive attitude amidst all the moaning and groaning about the weather!
We hope to see you for New Years, and we welcome any questions or concerns you may have. Ask anyone here, out on our slopes, poke around our Facebook page or give us a call... we don't have much to complain about at Hunter Mountain, nor do our customers.
Have a great day and we hope to see you soon!
In the short term, we have a few mid-temperature days with cold nights coming this weekend... next week, nighttime temps plunge into deep freeze. Stay tuned!

Sunday Sunday Sunday!
Alright folks, here's the deal for tomorrow:
- We'll have top-to-bottom skiing and riding. We are making snow on the Belt, though we do not know if it will be ready for tomorrow yet. The Kaatskill Flyer will be the primary lift, with a possibility of running D-Lift for intermediates (and those of you who need a break from Hellgate!)
- We are priming Hunter One, but it will not be open tomorrow. As stated above, Midstation may be available for intermediates via D-Lift.
- Mike and the park crew put some rails and boxes out, so those will remain for tomorrow.
- Pricing is $36 for adults, $27 with the Big Lift Card.
- Don't forget that if you're skiing and riding today, keep your ticket, and you can get a $26 ticket tomorrow! $10 off a full price ticket when you show your lift ticket from today.
- Shane is shooting our weekly video today and tomorrow, so if you want to tell everyone how awesome we are, look for him. Your face in our weekly video. Sounds good right?
In terms of snowmaking, nighttime temps are looking great tonight, with some tomorrow night and Monday night strong possibilities as well. We're going to open as quickly as mother nature allows. There are some raging parties in town tonight, and Solid Smoke is playing at the Main Bar (see below). Thanks for reading and keep checking back!

Hunter Mountain eNews 12/8: We're opening Saturday!
To read our most recent e-mail blast, click here!
WE ARE OPENING SATURDAY!
Hellooooo campers!
We would like to let you know that due to recent snowfall and decent nighttime temps for snowmaking, we will be opening on Saturday!
At this point it is looking like we will use the Flyer to up/download for F-Lift, so we will at the very least be open mid- to summit. If we get some really good temps and make a lot of snow, we will obviously open top to bottom. We will do whatever Mother Nature allows, so things may change between now and Saturday in terms of open terrain. We are *hoping* to have Hellgate-Broadway-Kennedy (otherwise known as HBK or Mainline) top-to-bottom open for Sunday, and the nighttime temps look good.
We'll have pricing up on our website tomorrow, and we'll have some info from Bruce as snowmaking continues to spread out. We're also planning on getting a trail open around C-Lift so some Hunter One terrain will be available for Sunday.
Again, terrain availability is based on snowmaking and temperatures, but we will be open on Saturday... you can count on that. Stay tuned here and on Facebook for updates. And while you're waiting, you can watch the snowmaking video we shot last week:
More info soon.

makin ze snow
We're making snow (duh). This blog post is a little late. BUT... here's a photo.
While you're waiting for new photos & video, check out the NY ski license plate!
There are more photos on Facebook, and we'll be shooting photos and video in the early morning hours tomorrow with a video up on YouTube perhaps as early as tomorrow afternoon... so stay tuned. Nighttime temps look good for continuous snowmaking once the afternoon/evening rolls around, though daytime snowmaking will be limited.
