Snowmaking Update: Friday

This week has been a great start to the New Year with Mother nature dropping about 17" plus inches on us then giving us some of the coldest temps this season.

Today, sunshine and rising temps make it a perfect day for skiing, riding or tubing at Hunter everything out there is some of the Best of the year, Racers, Cliff, Clair's just had 2 solid days of blasting snow with below zero temps at night and single digits during the day made some serious
mounds of that man made powder. Enough of what we did...there is only one thing to say: IT MAY NOT GET BETTER THAN THIS.

Saturday, warmer temps and sunshine make it a must to jump in the car, bus, train or whatever way...just get up here and enjoy what mother nature and the snowmakers have worked
and gave everybody this week, near perfect conditions.

Oh, by the way, we will shut the guns off for you this weekend so you can enjoy the sunshine and mild temps.

I was up at Hunter last week, and I had an incredible time. While Lower K27, 44, Annapurna, Taylor's and the other currently closed trails were great with the natural snow, what happened to snowmaking on them? I understand that the temps don't exactly look great for the near future, but when it does get cold again, will snow be made on them?

I would definitely expect those trails to reopen, but right now we're dealing with repairing terrain as quickly as possible. Trails like The Cliff that turned not so great between traffic, previous rain, etc, are being repaired, we blew a ton of snow in snowtubing, etc. Right now we're also looking at some pretty balmy temps for this week, so once we start snowmaking again we'll probably spread out some more.

I hope things get better. Although conditions were pretty nice, would love a few feet of powder to cover the bare spots, slick hard pack and ice which is on some of the trails.

Well, we have to get through this week first, temps are looking very, very warm for us.

Hopefully the rain and warm temps won't erode away too much. At least the base is in much better shape than last year at this time.

how come the base cam is blurry and out of focus, while the midstation cam is perfectly clear?

Any idea when Lower K27 or Annapurna will be opening up? I was on the fence about this weekend and decided not to go - but if Lower K27 or Annapurna were opened up I'd definitely have chosen to be there....
