Hot Off The Press! POMA 6-pack lift installation beginning soon!

We know the skiers and riders who call Hunter Mountain home love our slopes and the energy that surrounds us. We also realize that for our skiers and riders to truly enjoy these slopes, we need to invest in "your" mountain...what better investment, than a brand new base to summit lift?

Leitner-Poma has consistently been the leader in high-speed aerial lifts for the winter sports industry and they have been chosen to supply Hunter Mountain with a detachable Six Pack lift to replace the existing Snowlite Express (Quad-Lift). Construction will commence as soon as our season ends and we plan to have the new Six Pack up and running for some late summer Sky Ride enjoyment.

This capital improvement is another major step in the effort to make your experience here at Hunter Mountain all it could be... And that's not all. In the summer of 2011 we also plan to remove the Z & Y lifts on our famed West Side to make room for a Quad that will carry a new line and allow for better snow making coverage over the black diamond terrain.

We're looking for a name...so please drop us a line if you think you have the perfect name for the new Six Pack at Hunter Mountain!

Stayed tuned and watch our progress on HunterMtn.com all spring and summer long.

Thank you Hunter Mountain!! Great, great news... not to sound greedy for too much good news, but, does the increased capacity of skiiers going uphill mean we'll have some new trails going downhill?

One thing at a time... :) I think we have a lot on our plate right now with the zipline and the new lift, then moving the Quad over. We'll see what happens!

That is epic. Not much care for the six pack since I avoid them on wknds if I can. But the quad on the West side? That is cool. Just don't carve out an intermediate or beginner run there or else the quad will not be enough.

Make some snow on Westway.

AWESOME!!! A cool name for the Six-Pak would be the "I" lift since that's the next in the alphabet, but a cooler name would be the Snowlite Express 3.0, because the Quad was originally 2 separate "A" lifts; it was then upgraded to the hi-speed quad we have today and we'll get another upgrade over the summer. Or, another name could be The Summit Six-Pak.

This is exciting news. I join the others in saying Thank You Hunter mountain. Regarding the name, I think I'd avoid any 6 Pack refrences -- no need to reinforce (generally) outdated perceptions of what continues to be such a great, close mountain.

Nice job!
P.S. I think the lift opts did a better job this year of managing the lines to keep things moving along as well as possible.

In keeping with the naming everything after something from New York, why not something like the "High Line Lift"?

Is this a swapout of just the seats from a 4 to 6 seater (keeping the jalopy drive system) or the whole new lift system being replaced?

Jessica said...

Nope, 100% new

Great news added uphill capacity means less time in lift lines. What about addressing down hill capacity?

You said moving the Quad over so the snowlite express is going to be moved over to the West side or is it going to be a new lift next year?

Any info on the maximum haul rope speed of the new 6 pack? I'm crossing my fingers for 1,200 feet per minute....

Not to get way out there, but is Hunter thinking of using some kind of alternative energy or bio-fuel to power the new lift? I see a lot of mountains are now putting up wind or solar electricity to power their infrastructure and chair lifts. Thanks!

Bravo on the new 6-pack, long overdue. However why destroy the character of the Y- and Z- lifts? There are rarely lines back there anymore, and they're fantastic. The original gasoline drive system is still mounted in the Z's bottom station; you can't replicate that sort of charm.
