Hunter Mountain Goes Pink in Support of the Shred the Love Campaign
Hunter Mountain will be “going pink” for the week of February 27th through March 4th in an effort to support fundraising and awareness through the Shred the Love Campaign and Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC). Throughout the week, guests of Hunter Mountain will have the opportunity to add $1 or more to their lift ticket purchase, as well as purchase various B4BC merchandise. The proceeds will go to help fund breast cancer research, awareness and prevention. On March 3rd through 4th, B4BC’s Check One, Two® traveling outreach group will be on-site providing peer-to-peer breast health education and preventative information.
B4BC is a non-profit organization founded to advocate early detection and a healthy active lifestyle as the best means of breast cancer prevention. The Shred the Love Campaign, originated by B4BC seeks to unite the board sport community through this message. The campaign has doubled in size in its second year, and mountain resorts, campuses and community organizations across the country are hosting events and fundraising activities to help spread the message and raise funds to support the efforts in awareness and prevention of breast cancer.
“We here at Hunter really understand and support B4BC’s message of a healthy, active winter lifestyle,” explains Gerry Tschinkel, Hunter Mountain’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We are happy to show our support to such a great organization with a very important message, while encouraging people to ride.”

Thursday's a Snow Day in Union Square, NYC!
Thursday, February 9, 2012
The Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA), Ski Areas of New York (SANY), and I Love New York are bringing in tons of snow to Union Square to remind New Yorkers that the mountains of New York are covered with fresh and man-made snow. This snow day, Thursday, February 9th, is being hosted to encourage New Yorkers to get out and enjoy the outdoors during the winter months.
ORDA will be trucking in and blowing tons of fresh snow, utilizing the latest snow-making technology to create this incredible winter wonderland. This Union Square event will feature:
• Burton Riglet Park, where children ages three to six can test ride snowboards and learn the basics of snowboarding; instructors will tow kids on snow features and around obstacles to introduce them to the fun of snowboarding.
• Fresh from receiving a bronze medal for his video part in Winter X Games Real Snow, professional snowboarder Pat Moore will be on-site to talk about snowboarding. Pat holds "Highest Air" honors in the quarterpipe at the Oakley Stylemasters in China, the Abominable Snow Jam and the U.S. Open. Flying in style won him "Best Trick" for a massive 20-foot McTwist at the Arctic Challenge.
• Red Bull’s street team will be giving away a pair of custom skis, movies, shirts, and more.
• Skiing and snowboarding experts from ORDA, I LOVE NY, SANY/I SKI NY, Hunter, Gore, Whiteface, Windham, Belleayre and Mountain Creek will be available to talk about the quality and technological advances of snowmaking, New York’s 50-plus ski destinations and New York’s winter activities across the state.
COME SKI NY SNOW EVENT: Thursday, February 9, 2012; 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
