Celtic Fest is Still On! Rain or Shine!

Celtic Festival is on...a little rain doesn't damper our Irish spirit. All of the world class Celtic entertainment is inside the base lodge on two stages and under the big tent outside. The bagpipe and drum competition is happening as is the spine-tingling Mass March! If you're looking for something to do today to get out of the rain...come up to Hunter...the 35th Annual Celtic Fest!

International Celtic Fest this Weekend!


Just a quick reminder that the Celtic Festival is this weekend, August 21st and 22nd! If you've never been to the festival, you don't know what you're missing out on! The entertainment lineup is incredible, you can check it out HERE.

Also, Sunday features a Bagpipe Competition, followed by the spectacular Mass March as hundreds of pipers and drummers march down the mountain in unison. After the Mass March, the entire procession will play as one at the base of the mountain - it's a spine-tingling sight that is not to be missed.

Lift Construction Update: Head to the Chopper!

Attention skiers and riders! This is what we've all been waiting for! Below is the video of some of our lift towers going up via helicopter! Everything went smoothly and safely. Completion of the Kaatskill Flyer 6-pack is now closer than ever! Make sure you watch the video in HD!

How To Build a Base Terminal by Hunter Mountain

If you've been keeping up with the progress of our 6-pack construction project, then you know, things are moving fast! We are amazed at the precision and speed that our staff is showing in this massive project. Below are a pictures of the base terminal as it stands now. I can tell you that it didn't look like this just a week ago!

Below are the pedestals and cross arms up and ready!


The following two pictures show the placing of the detach mechanisms.

All major parts of the base terminal are in place! Workers are now moving on to the roofing of the terminal. Stay tuned for more updates!

Lift Construction Still Going Strong!

Here is another lift construction update for you winter junkies! As you've seen in previous posts, towers have been going up everywhere, and summit terminal construction was efficient. We are now on to the base terminal. The hole was dug, the concrete was poured, and the pillars have gone up. Check out the pics!

Terminal parts are arriving almost daily. As you can see by the pic below, the Kaatskill Flyer is in the house!

Tour of the Catskills

Hunter Mountain was a proud sponsor of the Tour of the Catskills 3 Stage race over this past weekend. Over 600 competitors attended including over 100 professional cyclists! Day Three started at the base lodge, and included a grueling climb up Platte Clove, which tested even the strongest of riders! Hunter also offered a pace car for the Masters/JR Class. Enjoy the pics! Lift Update! Summit Towers and Terminal! Base Digging!

For those keeping up on our six pack construction, this is to let you know we have been making serious moves! Towers have started to spring up everywhere, more concrete is being poured at the summit, and extensive digging has begun at the base! Things are moving smoothly folks. I hope you are all as excited as we are for this great new addition to Hunter! Stay tuned for more!

Lift Update: Towers, Cross Arms, Sheave Trains, and Cranes!

Construction is going at a great pace! Parts are arriving as scheduled, and construction is going smoothly. As you saw last week, concrete is being poured for the Summit terminal. This week towers are going up! Below are towers and cross arms upon arrival.

Lift Construction Update! Concrete Pouring!

For those of you who are anxiously awaiting winter, progress on our new six pack is moving great! This morning concrete foundations were being poured on our new summit terminal. 12 concrete trucks are making their way up the mountain as I write this!Check out the photos!


The picture below shows a crane unloading the hual rope, somewhere around 27 tons!

Incase You Were Wondering...

The lift construction is going smoothly! I went up D-Lift today, and armed with my IPhone, I snapped a photo of Hellgate, with no lift towers!

The second IPhone shot is of the Quad base terminal, it's just about gone!

Most of the towers are down, the remaining towers will be removed by way of helicopter. Stay tuned for photos of that!

4th of July Weekend in Hunter!!

Hello from Hunter Mountain!

We've been hard at work preparing for the installation of our new 6-pack lift... the quad is almost entirely removed from the hill. For updates and photos, be sure to check the Hunterblog! We'll have more photos as the installation progresses!

We'd also like to thank you all for so many great name submissions... if you've got a new idea or would like to send in your suggestion for the name of the new lift, send it now!

July is creeping up on us, and the weather has been incredible! We've got lots going on, the zipline has been PACKED and is now open daily! There are only a few spaces left for zipping this weekend... come on up and give it a try! Reservations can be made by calling (518) 263-4388 or e-mailing info@zipsny.com! Tour types and pricing are available here!

D-Lift is also serving as our Skyride lift, so for those of you who'd like to take a ride up the mountain and enjoy the scenery, a picnic at the wine rock, or a walk from Midstation, now's your chance! For more information on the Skyride, head over to HunterMtn.com! We'll have a band out on the deck from noon to 3pm on Saturday... bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the weather! Please remember to bring out what you brought in!

As for Fourth of July festivities, Bear Creek Restaurant, located on Rt. 214 in Hunter, will be having fireworks and a BBQ. Bear Creek also has miniature golf, a driving range, paintball, horseback riding and great food! They also have the biggest fireworks display in the area... spend your Saturday evening with beautiful views and great food, music & fireworks! The rain date for fireworks is Sunday evening.

There's an assortment of events taking place in the area, as well: looking for a movie, play, place to eat, bookstore, art gallery? We've got an all-in-one right in Hunter! Lift Construction Project Update!

I know you are all anxious to know how the progress of our new detachable 6pack is going, so here are some pictures! The summit quad terminal is now out! Looks strange without it there. Cables are down, several of the towers are down, and many parts have started to arrive!
