The Amazing Hunter Mountain Race
Calling all adventurists, nature lovers, fun-seekers, heck, even those who like lounging around in luxury surroundings… mark September 15th and 16th in your calendar for an action-packed weekend.
POGO Events is teaming up with Hunter Mountain for a fun filled mountain adventure like no other. Think, the Sound of Music mashed up with The Amazing Race, with a dash of the Olympics thrown in for fun!
Just two and a half hours from New York City, nestled in the beautiful mountaintop region of the Northern Catskills, your weekend will include hiking, scavenging, climbing, puzzle solving, and family/friend bonding, with a dash of wining and dining thrown in for good measure. The package includes two nights’ accommodation, participation in the amazing race on Saturday, and even the option of a meal plan and transport, so all you need to worry about is getting your team together.
The three hour race on Saturday the 15th will take place along some of the many hiking trails surrounding Hunter Mountain, with breath-taking views of the Hudson Valley and the surrounding peaks. After ‘skyriding’ up to the 3,200 foot summit, you and your teammates will face physical challenges such as the vertical rope course with nine different obstacles and a 60 foot spiral tower top, fun diversions like disk golf, and mental challenges for those with sharper minds rather than brawny arms.
Whether or not your team is the winning one (prizes will include winter ski lift passes, a New York Amazing Race of your choice, and of course all-important gold medals!), you will be able to relax afterwards in the indoor/outdoor heated pool, steam room, sauna, hot tubs, or if you’re up for yet more adventure, have a go at the zipline, golf or fly fishing.
Price is $485 per couple (or $243 per person) which includes two nights’ accommodations in a Deluxe Studio for two people plus the Amazing New York Race on the Saturday. Add $70 for full breakfast at the hotel, a boxed lunch and a three-course dinner at VanWinkle’s Restaurant; or add $90 to upgrade to a Jacuzzi room that will fit 4 people.
Depending on numbers, POGO Events may charter a bus from NYC to Hunter Mountain. Please let us know if this is an option you would be interested in. There are regular buses going from Port Authority, or the very lovely drive is just over two hours from NYC.
Whether it’s a celebratory weekend like a birthday party, or just an excuse to get friends and family together, The Amazing Hunter Race is sure to be one to remember.
To purchase your tickets please call the Kaatskill Mountain Club at Hunter Mountain at 800-775-4641.
