A Fantastic Friday at Hunter Mountain!

We have had an amazing Friday here at Hunter, and are now making snow on Kennedy, Hunter One, Madison and Mid-station. We plan to run the guns right through to tomorrow, and keep them going as long as possible.

C-Lift/Hunter One

There is a very good possibility of running C Lift tomorrow, and the Quad and F-lift will be running as well....Kennedy will be open as long as temps stay down tonight (here in Hunter, we're looking at a night time low of between 10 and 15 degrees!).

Guns on Hunter One, mid-morning.

I got some pretty cool shots today (among them are the ones in this post, all taken around 10am this morning). Remember: if YOU have a great photo of Hunter, send it in! Also check back, as our webmaster Steve has taken a bunch of photos every day and posted them on the site.

See more photos of snowmaking, the trails, the resort and more on the main page of the website, or in the gallery!

Check back tomorrow or call the Snowphone later (800-HunterMtn) for updated conditions...the forecast is looking excellent for the weekend, and I hope everyone had a really excellent Thanksgiving!

hey jessica,

your blog is great, the new web site is terrible. soooooo slow and hard to find the basics. i can't seem to find a list of trails that are open, being blown, etc. Am i just missing it, or is it not there anymore?

also, it takes way to long to get to the picture(s) of the day.

and, i think there should be a link to the 7 day forecast.

i know its already done, but for the future, i think these are basic things your regular visitors and season pass holders are looking for, at least i am.

thanks.

Pretty good with the exception of that famous hunter hard pack at the mid section of hell gate. Should be all covered with powder by this weekend.

Hi Tom,

I'm actually really glad someone mentioned this, because I've been getting a bunch of comment e-mails with no return address telling me how horrible the website is. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

1. Our website is not finished. We are working on getting the trail status (very, very important) up, but because we used an outside firm to design the site, we need to wait for them to fix their bugs. This puts us in a difficult position when the season is starting and we want to show what's open. For example, we can't show ANY comment info on the snow reporting page, and we are waiting for them to get back to us. I am trying to compensate by posting a lot in the blog.

2. You mentioned having to navigate for too long to get to the Pic of the Day. Unfortunately the way the site is designed, the front page information is very limited. However, please use the buttons at the base of the main photo area to get to pics, the blog, videos, etc. That is another design issue, and not something we can really remedy.

3. There actually is a link to the 7-day forecast, via NOAA. If you click the little orange More > button on the top right next to the weather icons, it will take you directly to the 7 day forecast page.

Again, I'm sorry that these features are not more obvious, but please have patience, as we are really working hard to get the rest of the components up, and we definitely know how important it is.

Jess, I've been going (OMG!) over to the Windham website for my updates, webcam, weather and the like. Because Hunter's website isn't user friendly. Fire those people!!

Have patience. Not everything can go perfectly for everyone. We're doing the best we can, blowing a TON of snow and opening a ton of trails, and if you don't like the website, call the snowphone. That has plenty of information, or e-mail someone that works here, or call the operator.
