Holy crap am i tired.. about 8 runs and that was my day it was beautiful though, and i did see and partake in some free for all action :P Nothing else like a powder day
are you guys going to give the 50 dollar discount towards season passes like you did earlier this year if you already have a big lift card, season pass, etc because currently it is not available.
I was out there skiing yesterday -- a beautiful day other than the wind. I have a complaint though: you guys don't seem to groom after a fresh snowfall! I could understand not grooming on Saturday, right after the snow. But on Sunday?? The place was completely mogels yesterday. I only found about 2 blue runs that were groomed. I understand people like powder, but at least groom some of your runs. I waited till Sunday to come up thinking that there would be some nice, soft groomed runs. Instead it was choppy, inconsistant mogels everywhere. Next big snow I'm headed to your northern competition... On another note, could you guys post what slopes are groomed and what are mogeled on your website "conditions" page?
I announced it 2 weeks ago, in the blog, an eNews e-mail and a few other places. It actually says April 1 on the fact sheet, I think. As I have said, we'll see what happens. It depends on the weather. If we've got good snow, that date may change. The key word is "tentative."
When has Hunter EVER cast a date in stone? Never... And i like it that way.. It's way more realistic..
Hunter is realistic and actually flexible on dates. the fact is SKIING is a sport thats bound to the weather.. And if the weather doesn't cooperate.. It impacts skiing..
I skied hard all day Sat. (I confess, mostly Westway). Three days later, with every little move I still have severe muscle pain from the waist down. Each shot of pain brings a big smile to my face as I recall the epic day I had. I now dream of the big soft bumps of spring to come, warm sun and cold beer on the deck. Don’t even THINK of closing 4/7. It might save Hunter money this year but it will make for some angry non-skiers next year. Close when there is no top-bottom.
Again...we'll close when we need to. It may not be 4/7 but expectations were raised last year.
I went out today for a bunch of runs and totally wrecked myself. It was great but hard work, I'll tell you. However, there is a ton of snow...AND tomorrow is going to be amazing with the cold nighttime temps we're going to get tonight.
gj you are so right on! Sell a cat and stay open late. I also think Hunter should charge more in spring and discount the groomed boiler plate days. Spring skiing is the best thing in the world. I can't believe there are 10 million people within driving distance and they'd rather ski 1/2 trail in Nov. Let's hope weather and croud$ can keep it open past 7th. spread the word!
How will the warmer weather we're seeing right now impact skiing this weekend? As this is my first real season of skiing, I don't have a real appreciation for how the warmer weather affects (or not) the mountain.
I am not sure yet what to say about this weekend. There is a chance of rain, but a small amount of rain is not so bad for the snow. A lot of rain is obviously not good. No rain is also great. Spring conditions are awesome and we just don't know what the weekend has in store for us. I'll know more tomorrow but there are different percentage chances of things right now and the radar screens have been changing a lot over the last few days...I would suggest giving me a call or shooting me an e-mail on Friday morning and asking then, as I might know more.
Spring skiing, as has been said, is great. Lots of fun, more comfortable for most people, lots of sun and nice snow. You'll see :)
It's beautiful right now, mild outside with a light breeze. Tomorrow it might sprinkle a bit but the weekend percentages are low. I'm not positive of anything, but I'd say go for it.
I stopped approving comments by people who said we are stupid for not staying open. You guys are all missing the point: it's a tentative closing date.
If you are the one who sent me the long complaint, you did not include an e-mail address in which for me to reply to you, so I did not approve it, nor can I respond. If you guys have something important to say or a legitimate complaint, stop leaving 'Anonymous' and leave your e-mail address so we have a chance to respond.

Are you still planing on closing the 7th???? Now!
"Now"?
The 7th is still the tentative close date.
No, that is not available this year because you guys have the opportunity to ski for the rest of this season when you purchase.

Thanks HM Staff!!!

season passes will be available early next year (august) for the same prices correct? i can't afford one now haha
When/where did Hunter announce a 4/7 closing date?

Keep the faith Jess! Your doing an awesome job...
Thanks! I've been telling people to relax and take it day by day for weeks now...everyone sit tight and see what happens :)

Bumps...Bumps....Bumps.....Bumps, thanks for not grooming keep up the good work. Cliff to Ike was the run on Sunday. BIG soft bumps Hmmmmmm good.
Just think all the money hunter could save on not grooming we could be open into May.
will there be a discounted pass for college students?
The mountain wants to close so they can start construction of the Pinnacle.
That has nothing to do with the tentative close date.
Thanks for leaving the snow ungroomed. Soft bumps are a rare treasure for those of us who ski regularly on the boilerplate of the Catksills.

Hmmm, I was planning on driving up tonight (Thursday) with my kids for a long weekend - so calling on Friday will be too late.
Any sense as of this afternoon (1:30pm) of how it's expected to be tomorrow/weekend?
