Latest Snowmaking Update

Good morning everyone!

We received a few inches of snow on Friday night, which is still lingering on the trails. The latest snowmaking update: weather permitting, we plan on making snow on Friday or Saturday of this week in hopes for a Thanksgiving opening.

Stay tuned for more info!

why does it seem like hunter is struggling to start snowmaking even with the temps being fantastic all last week? it seemed easier to get snow on the ground for a thanksgiving opening last winter with temps being in the 50's most of the time.

  4. We're not struggling by any means. Temps in the 50's don't qualify as good snowmaking weather. We want to make snow and keep it there -- have some faith, we'll get going, and efficiently at that.

  5. We'll get the Pic of the Day working, no worries. We're working on getting the old ones up, and the new section will be up soon. There are only two of us uploading content from the old site and creating new stuff, so have patience! The Pic of the Day section will also be RSS-available this year, so that will definitely be a cool new feature.

Yeah you guys have to be careful not to blow too much snow early this year... around this time last year the cold was just a tease and the season was brutal till mid-Jan... If the Turkey Day open does go as planned (which looks fairly promising when lookin at the 10 day forecast) do you anticipate staying open on the weekdays for the following week??? That would be sweet cuz I can't make it till Monday... well mmaaaybe i might skip work on sunday... itchin bad to make some turns!!!

  8. Haha, well, I'm not sure anyone has ever asked us to NOT blow too much snow...everything depends on the weather. Right now the plan is to open, definitely for Thanksgiving and for the weekend, but time will tell whether we stay open or close back up as we did last year. Stay tuned.

The latest picture of The Pinnacle is below, it was taken last Thursday:
